The 2024 EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference is a key annual event for the meteorological and scientific communities. Reuniwatt is proud to be present at the conference and share their latest advancements regarding solar irradiance retrieval from satellite data.

Satellite-based irradiance estimations present numerous advantages over ground-based measurements, including rapid and cost-effective deployment without the necessity for hardware installation, no operational and maintenance requirements for sensors, and effective identification of malfunctions through comparisons between meter-measured production and satellite-derived estimations.

Renewable energy forecasting is Reuniwatt’s core business. We have developed our own methods, which vary depending on the time horizon:

You can learn more about our method, and the improvements we’ll achieve through data from Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) satellites in our joint white paper co-authored with EUMETSAT and AEMet: Meet Mathieu Turpin, Satellite Data Expert at Reuniwatt, at the 2024 EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference in Würzburg, Germany from 30 September to 4 October. Mathieu leads the research and development programs of satellite-to-irradiance estimation and forecasting algorithms. He is also responsible for the real-time operational chain and for monitoring the quality of satellite models. During the EUMETSAT conference, he will be holding two oral presentations:

Interested in learning more?
