On 6 October 2025, the Optical Nucleus Network (ONN) Workshop returns to ESA/ESOC, focusing on the growth and evolution of optical ground station networks. The one-day event will convene experts from industry, academia, and agencies to address system design, interoperability, and mission support strategies.

Reliable atmospheric monitoring is essential for the operation of free-space optical communication (FSOC) networks, where cloud cover can disrupt data transmission. Reuniwatt has been pioneering cloud observation and forecasting technologies for more than 15 years, deploying all-sky imagers worldwide. Our approach combining skycams, satellite imagery and AI, enables accurate, short-term cloud forecasting to support optical ground station (OGS) operations and handover strategies across networked stations, ensuring high link availability around the clock.

Reuniwatt will participate in the Optical Nucleus Network (ONN) Workshop on 6 October 2025 at ESA/ESOC, Darmstadt, where experts from agencies, industry, and academia will gather to discuss the evolution of optical ground station networks and their role in future space missions. Our poster, “Orchestrating free-space optical communications with cloud observation and forecasting”, presents how combining AI, satellite data, and all-sky imagers can support continuous FSOC operations. You can meet our CTO Nicolas Sébastien during the poster session to discuss how Reuniwatt’s solutions contribute to the scaling of optical networks.
