Anthon Voitus will present\u00a0Satellite-Based Nowcasting with U-Net for Improving Blended Solar Irradiance Forecasting: A Tropical Island Case Study<\/em>. The study introduces a lightweight U-Net model trained to simultaneously forecast four future clear-sky index maps, with lead times of up to one hour. Evaluated against ground measurements from five stations across Reunion Island, the model improves spatial clear-sky index forecasts by 10\u201315% compared to standard cloud motion vector methods, and local GHI forecasts by 5\u201310%.
