ICamCloudOps is a cooperation between DWD, the german weather service, and Reuniwatt, funded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmvi.de\/EN\/Topics\/Digital-Matters\/mFund\/mFund.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mFUND<\/a>, the &#8220;modernity fund&#8221; of the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). The project that started in May 2020 aims at the development and evaluation of new so-called &#8220;forward operators&#8221; for numerical weather prediction that employ artificial intelligence and ground-based camera observations of the atmosphere. The main goal of the project is to improve hour-scale forecasts of clouds and cloud-related phenomena such as rain or thunderstorms.
