La radiación solar es un parámetro meteorológico y climático fundamental que regula las interacciones entre la superficie terrestre y la atmósfera, incluidos los procesos radiativos, hidrológicos y de otro tipo que tienen lugar en la superficie terrestre. La radiación global puede sufrir fuertes fluctuaciones debido al paso de nubes. Por ello, la predicción de la cobertura nubosa a escala horaria resulta útil para la gestión de la energía solar, así como para todas aquellas aplicaciones que requieran información sobre la cobertura nubosa a nivel local. Reuniwatt se ha fijado el objetivo de impulsar el estado de la investigación en el ámbito de la detección y predicción por satélite de la radiación global, así como de la predicción de parámetros de nubosidad. A diferencia de las cámaras celestes que operan en el espectro visible, la cámara celeste infrarroja patentada «Sky InSight™» de Reuniwatt permite observar la cobertura nubosa las 24 horas del día con una precisión estable y sin precedentes. La observación y predicción de la cobertura nubosa tanto de día como de noche resulta útil para diversas aplicaciones de investigación, como la modelización de fenómenos meteorológicos a pequeña escala, el registro a largo plazo de procesos locales para estudios sobre el cambio climático o la notificación de fenómenos celestes. Dependiendo de las condiciones meteorológicas, la generación de electricidad de una instalación fotovoltaica (instalación FV) está sujeta a fuertes fluctuaciones y a picos de carga provocados por el paso de las nubes. Las previsiones FV con una periodicidad de minutos constituyen una herramienta útil para los operadores de red en la gestión de las centrales eléctricas. Las cámaras celestes que operan en el espectro visible permiten realizar pronósticos durante el día sobre la radiación solar, la generación fotovoltaica y los picos de carga. Evaluamos las predicciones generadas con SkyCam Vision de Reuniwatt. Se trata de nuestro generador de imágenes de todo el cielo, que observa las nubes y proporciona predicciones de radiación solar que se utilizan para el control de las instalaciones. Así, por ejemplo, el control de la puesta en marcha de los generadores diésel puede optimizar el consumo de combustible gracias a la integración de las previsiones en los sistemas híbridos de gestión energética de instalaciones fotovoltaicas y diésel. Predicción de la nubosidad y la energía solar mediante modelos numéricos de predicción meteorológica
Muchas aplicaciones de investigación y de interés social, como por ejemplo la medición y la predicción de la radiación solar en la superficie terrestre, requieren previsiones precisas de la nubosidad a corto plazo, con una resolución de kilómetros y horas. Los modelos numéricos de predicción meteorológica (MNM) para áreas limitadas son capaces de proporcionar tales previsiones mediante la simulación de las nubes con una alta resolución espacial y temporal. De este modo, estas simulaciones contribuyen a mejorar las previsiones de energía solar y eólica para el día siguiente. Sin embargo, la precisión de las previsiones durante las primeras 24-48 horas se ve muy influida por la precisión de los análisis de nubosidad y termodinámicos en las condiciones iniciales. Nuestro objetivo es mejorar las predicciones de nubosidad basadas en el MNM, centrándonos en modelos locales y en la asimilación de datos.
