Sunology, the French leader in residential solar stations without installation or assembly, has renewed its partnership with Reuniwatt, an international reference in solar irradiance estimation and forecasting. This collaboration has enabled the development of a highly scalable solar forecasting innovation aimed at optimizing residential solar energy storage management.
Innovative start-up in residential solar solutions
Sunology is a Nantes-based start-up developing a new generation of “plug & play” solar stations for all individuals (not just house-owners). Their stations can be deployed in minutes and are profitable in less than 5 years on average. STOREY is an intelligent domestic battery ready to plug in. It automatically stores energy during off-peak hours to release it when tariffs increase. It enables all households, whether equipped with solar or not, to reduce their electricity costs by 44%. In parallel, Sunology launched the free mobile application STREAM, which helps individuals monitor their daily self-consumption. Reuniwatt, partner of this application, worked to provide users with real-time, geolocated irradiance data on their photovoltaic installation via the app. A real-time and geolocated estimate is required to verify that the panels produce the expected amount of energy depending on the weather: solar intensity, which varies with the season and daily weather, is indicated with 5 levels (1 to 5 suns) on the app.
Reuniwatt optimizes energy management with precise 48-hour solar forecasts
As part of the new STOREY offer with integrated battery, an estimate is no longer the only necessary data: a 48-hour forecast of solar irradiance is essential to optimize energy storage on the new battery (charge/discharge). To meet this essential need, Reuniwatt has innovated to allow Sunology and its end users to benefit from day-ahead forecasts. How? Thanks to a 48-hour sunshine forecasting engine, geolocated on the user’s site. Reuniwatt offers an almost infinite forecasting capacity across continental France and Corsica. In July 2025, more than 2.7 million forecasts were made, a number constantly increasing. At the beginning of the project, requests ranged between 1,000 and 2,500 per day; today they exceed 100,000. The deployability of this innovation – the ability to forecast via a single request across the entire territory – is a real added value. This innovation demonstrates the scalability of Reuniwatt’s services, ease of access to users, and the creation of multi-terrain technology (for example, tilted panels) by Sunology. Since its launch in June 2025, the STOREY technology has experienced dynamic growth, promising for the future: deployment beyond French borders!
