IssyGrid®, first operational smart grid district in France

The IssyGrid demonstration project is operational in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Parisian suburb). The latter comprises more than 1000 connected homes, 5 buildings (including the EFB – the Paris Law School), a part of the city lighting, 2 storage systems, 3 PV installations, 1 Big Data platform and a forecasting system.

A new intra-hour solar forecasting method

It is on the latter point that Reuniwatt brings its contribution to its partner, Total. Indeed, Total is in charge of developing a PV plant in self-consumption as well as a solar power production forecasting model on the demonstration project. This model, included in the smart grid, insures an intelligent management of the renewable energy produced on site. Thanks to the partnership between Total and Reuniwatt, the short-term solar production forecasts are more precise.

Reuniwatt has developed a patented ground imager which enables to obtain forecasts in the hour to come. It has been installed on the EFB’s rooftop, next to the PV installation deployed by Total with SunPower modules. This new imager improves the performance compared to classical ground cameras: it can visualise in real time the clouds’ position and altitude, forecast their movements and, consequently, the 3 PV plants’ production variations.

Smart Energies Expo 2016

Reuniwatt will exhibit at the next Smart Energies Expo 2016, from the 31st of May until the 1st of June, at the Espace Grande Arche in Paris. You can meet us on booth D3.

Reuniwatt will take part in two interventions during this event:

  • Direct marketing and new models for solar energy: The benefits of solar forecasting”, by our Key Account Manager, Etienne BUESSLER on Tuesday 31st May from 10:30 AM until 11AM in the Grid & Infrastructures Pavilion.
  • Solar forecasting and modelling at the service of the smart city”, by our Smart Grids specialist, Évariste CHAINTREAU, on Wednesday 1st June from 11:30 AM until 12PM on the Big Data & IoT Pavilion.
